His Excellency Keo Rattanak, Minister of Mines and Energy, met with His Excellency Sharon S. Garin, Secretary of Energy of the Republic of the Philippines. During the meeting, His Excellency expressed his interest in importing oil and gas, as Cambodia and the Philippines are both countries that are under pressure from the same impacts. This led to the meeting focusing in detail on energy security, promoting the use of renewable energy, and building the ASEAN Power Grid (APG), which is an electricity connection between ASEAN countries to ensure sufficient, affordable energy, and support the use of clean energy.

At the same time, His Excellency the Minister also appreciated the sharing of experiences in developing the Philippines’ energy sector in line with the preparations for discussions during the ASEAN Energy Ministers’ Meeting, which the Philippines will chair in 2027.
